Patches
I remember the day we got Patches. There were hundreds of dogs at the shelter waiting to be adopted. Pristine purebred show dogs and every mixed breed you can think of. In the midst of the hustle and bustle of the shelter, one lovable mutt caught our eye. Maybe it was his melancholy expression or the fact that he was clearly nobody's idea of the perfect dog. Whatever it was, the connection was instantaneous and the search ended right then and there. Patches passed away quietly this week at the age of 15. Right up until the end, he was the perfect companion. Offering his love and affection unconditionally, he would be impossible to replace. It seems almost a sacrilege to even try. Rest in peace good boy.
